Joanne is an insightful facilitator where her dynamic personality and her engaging methods shine through during your learning journey. As well, she has the ability to guide you to think outside the box to critical thinking. Her students say her unique quality is her ability to question and show different perspectives.

“As a teacher Joanne possessed a refreshing style of teaching and brought her massage experience into the classroom. She challenged us to continuously use our critical thinking abilities and take what we have learned to a productive level when assessing and treating our clients. Joanne is passionate about pushing us to be the best therapist possible and did all she could to help us. She is dependable and trustworthy colleague who also goes out of her way to step in since practicing as a RMT. Joanne baker became my mentor whom I trust implicitly”. (NE)

Joanne Baker has been in private practice since 1995 and has extended her career from Massage Therapy to Manual Therapy techniques that are osteopathic in nature as well as functional symmetry training. She was also National Coordinator for the Canadian Sport Massage Therapists Association for 8 years.

Joanne previously traveled 3 years on tour with the equestrian circus spectacular “Cavalia Odysseo” and returned in 2016.  There, Joanne was responsible for the care of performing artists and crew as therapist as well as head medic.  In addition to post graduation education in various modalities, Joanne has pursued additional training in the sport massage field and has worked with athletes at all levels of competition.

Joanne’s extra training in structural assessments and corrections as well as symmetry of body movements have allowed her to have immediate success on her athletes and everyone she works with.   Her belief is that these two factors are key to optimal function.

Joanne’s passion for teaching has grown tremendously over the past 24 years and she is excited to continue to bring her experiences to the classroom.   Teaching at various Massage Therapy institutions, individual and small group private tutoring, she loves to share her knowledge and experience to help you become a better therapist.  Joanne has also mentored new grads and seasoned therapists to increase their ability to become more effective in their clinical direction.
